Fort Churchill Tour and Lunch
Join the Audi Club Golden Gate for the first Reno/Tahoe area event of the year. The Board of Directors has heard your requests, and we've now refocused some of our time and energy to make sure that the members in the Reno/Tahoe area can create and lead a few events each year. Help us make these events a success by attending as many as possible, and by bringing along your friends.
The Fort Churchill Tour will start with the participants gathering in Reno at Jacks Valley Road, where we will meet up with the members from the Carson City area and take the highway to Genoa. We'll spend about 30 min., then we'll travel the back roads to connect to HI 395 south of Gardnerville, where we'll continue on to Wellington for lunch at the Hey Day Inn. The Hey Day Inn put on a great Basque lunch for a very reasonable price, and the cost of this lunch is on you.
We'll then continue our trip by travelling through Smith Valley and Mason Valley to Ft. Churchill, a State Park with the historic Pony Express era army outpost. After spending time at the park, we'll split up, and travel home, following routes of our own choosing.
Remember, there is a fee at the State Park, and each participant will be responsible for their own State Park fees.
Ft. Churchill was founded in July 1860 during the critical period of conflict between Native Americans and newly arrived settlers in the West. Click here for more details.

A car control clinic for teenage drivers. This event teaches teens to control a car in a variety of real world situations. We teach accident avoidance, ABS and panic braking, slalom driving in both wet and dry conditions, all of which are designed to improve awareness of your car. Additionally there is an exercise called 'driving the dots' that is designed to make the teens more aware of where the edge of the road (or curb)is located. At the end of the day every teen should leave with much improved driving skills and a big smile on their faces. Please send email to Gordon Sanderson if you have any questions. This is an all day event where the teen will spend most of the day in the car. We refer to it as classroom in a car.
